Composition: Gliclazide 30mg & Gliclazide 60 mg Tablet. Indications: This medication is recommended in adults for non-insulin dependent diabetes (type-II), in association with dietary measures and with physical exercise, when these measures alone are not sufficient to obtain normal blood glucose levels. Dosage and administration: The usual daily dose is 1 to 4 tablets /day as a single dose or as directed by the physician. It is recommended that the drug should be taken at breakfast time. Contraindications: Gliclazide modified release tablet is contraindicated in the following cases: 1. Hypersensitivity to gliclazide or to one of the excipients, to other medications of the same group (sulfonylureas). 2. Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (type-I). 3. Diabetic keto-acidosis. 4. Severe liver or kidney insufficiency. Side effects: As with all drugs gliclazide modified release tablet, is likely to have undesirable effects. l Hypoglycemic manifestations (sweating, pallor, intense hunger, malaise). l Skin reactions: urticaria, skin rash. l Gastrointestinal disorders: nausea, diarrhea, stomach upsets, constipation, hepatitis. Drug interactions: Certain interactions with other drugs (such as: Chlorpromazine, danazol, glucocorticoids, salbutamol, terbutaline etc.) must be avoided as they can cause significant changes in blood glucose levels. Use in pregnancy and lactation: Dimerol-MR has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Packing: Dimerol-MR-30: 4 x 14’s tablets in blister pack. Dimerol-MR-60: 2 x 10’s tablets in blister pack.
